Planting trees to offset
It’s impossible for us to not be aware of our actions in today’s world, particularly regarding climate change. I’m a wild hearted compassionate nature girl with her head and head firmly planted in the woods. I can often be found exploring the countryside, foraging and finding wild little gems to admire and inspire. It was important for me to do something to offset my carbon footprint as a business.
Designing branding or a website can take hours of time on the computer. So I made the decision after much research to begin to plant trees for the planet to help towards offsetting this. This also offers reassurance to my eco conscious clients to know that they are also contributing to the bigger picture. For each of my design packages, I donate to plant between 1-3 trees. Indeed, this is probably way too many for the actual amount required to offset. Yet, we need to be planting trees to help the earth so this felt a good number for me.
Recently, I donated to plant 12 trees in Indonesia, which focuses on the Kalimantan region in Borneo. In 2015, awful fires burnt and destroyed more than 30,000 hectares of its forest. The donation also goes towards work to restore areas affected by the fires, and those threatened by the palm oil industry and illegal mining operations.
